today

I’m not sure why I’ve been missing for so long here. I’ve had plenty to talk about in regard to my treatments and side effects and the lasting effects I’ve had. I’d lost my voice, though, and am just now finding my way back.

I guess I left off after my 2nd week of treatments…it was bad. The biggest issue I had was the cough-gag and the feeling that there was something in my throat.  After a week of taking prilosec and feeling the same, I went to my primary to see if he had any ideas (after checking with MO, of course).  He determined that since I was still feeling the same, that it was likely not the GERD, but more likely some sort of allergy.  A course of Claritin and stopping of Prilosec and I was starting to feel better.

All told, I think I lost somewhere around 15 pounds. While I appreciate the compliments from everyone, the weight loss was not due to hard work or dedication – but I guess there has to be some sort of silver lining to cancer treatments, eh?

My leg finally stopped swelling and there’s little to no pain unless I overdo it. I’ve still got fairly dry skin and sadly, the icky feelings haven’t gone away completely.  Just today I had a number of lovely cough-gag fits, and suddenly I can’t brush my teeth without gagging.  I have no idea how that correlates with my treatment, but I’m sure it does. As well as the uh…intestinal issues that come and go.

My scan is the 25th. My appointment with MO is the 29th. I’m equal parts excited and petrified for the results.

Stay tuned.
